Why did you decide to become a UBELONG Volunteer?
I volunteered before for UBELONG in Laos and I was extremely satisfied with my experience.
They deliver what they promised, you feel that you actually connect with the people they work with and with the communities you serve.

What was your impact on your volunteer project?
I got involved in the farming and the English teaching project. The gardening was hard work but very rewarding, as a group we supported each other, we worked together trying to solve watering problems and it was so beautiful to see the plants without weeds.

As a teacher it was wonderful to see how the children used the acquired knowledge in their classwork. It was also nice to teach English to the native teachers so they can improve their own teaching abilities.

What were your major challenges?
Laos was very hot at that time of the year. We had to bike to our work areas. However we all did it laughing and buying coconut water on our way to work or home.

What is your favorite memory?
When it was time to leave, the teachers made me a farewell lunch and one of them sang me a children song that we practiced the week before. It was such a beautiful moment.
