Why did you decide to become a UBELONG Volunteer?
We became a UBELONG volunteer as a result of our school’s curriculum that requires us to plan our own service trip. The group decided that we wanted to do something interesting and decided on volunteering for a service project in Laos.

What is your favorite memory?
My favorite memory was when looking at the path we were needed to clear and wondering, “How on earth are we going to finish clearing it.” and then looking back three days later thinking, “How did we do it?”.

What advice would you tell a future volunteer?
My advice to future volunteers is to be ready to be under the sun for hours on end and stay hydrated. Sunblock is a must if you want sun burns to be limited.

In a sentence or less, how would you describe the locals you met?
Understanding.
