UBELONG has won the prestigious Points of Light Civic Accelerator. The Civic Accelerator is a highly competitive program organized by Points of Light, with the support of the Starbucks Foundation and PricewaterhouseCoopers Charitable Foundation.
The Civic Accelerator brings together the most promising US-based social organizations into an intensive 12-week boot camp focused on mentoring, entrepreneur education, peer support and networking. The boot camp occurs in three locations: Atlanta, Seattle and Silicon Valley.
Over 200 organizations applied to join the Accelerator. Ten organizations were selected to go through the boot camp and, of those ten organizations, UBELONG was selected as the top one.
In addition to the invaluable education and networking opportunities afforded by the Accelerator, UBELONG won a US$60,000 investment from Village Capital, a leader venture capital firm.
As UBELONG’s Cedric Hodgeman tells: “It’s humbling to have won the Accelerator. It’s testament to how UBELONG has completely disrupted the international volunteering space by making it more affordable, flexible and supportive.” He adds: “We’ve come a long way. Being recognized like this means a lot. We have so much more to go though – we’re just getting started.”
