Support the first UBELONG Fund Holiday Drive!

UBELONG

We are thrilled to launch our first annual UBELONG Fund Holiday Drive. This year’s drive is dedicated to the thousands of individuals who are past, current or future UBELONG Volunteers. They come from all ages, backgrounds and cultures, and are linked by a yearning to explore new places and make a difference.  They are an inspiring testament to the power we each have as individuals to work together for good.

This 2010 UBELONG Fund Holiday Drive aims to collect educational materials for our projects in South America. From our caregiving projects in Cusco, Peru to our education projects in Quito, Ecuadoreverything that we collect will go directly towards supporting the orphanages, schools and community organizations we work with. The materials will be personally delivered by the UBELONG team in 2011. Their first material delivery will be January 14 to January 24, when they visit our projects in Lima and Cusco, Peru.

You can contribute in two ways:

Financial donation
We prefer financial donations because we can purchase materials in the field and avoid shipping them internationally. For examples of items we will purchase see the list in the “material donation” section below.

Suggested donations: US$10, US$20, US$50 or US$100+.

You can make a financial donation in three ways:

1. Paypal (which includes credit and debit card): To use Paypal, follow this link and enter the amount you would like to donate: Pay with Paypal.

2. Bank wire: If you would like to donate this way, please contact us so that we can send you our wire details.

3. Personal check, certified bank check or money order: Please make the check payable to “UBELONG” and send it to our main office in Washington, DC. The address:

UBELONG (attention: holiday drive)
1630 R Street NW, Suite #5
Washington, DC 20009
USA

Material donation

As noted above, financial donations are easier for us. However, if you would like to donate materials you are welcome to do so provided they are easily transportable, non-perishable and small enough to transport in a large suitcase.

Suggested materials: Arts and crafts supplies like glue, scissors and stickers; children’s books (both English and Spanish books are very useful); coloring books; crayons; flash cards (math and English vocabulary are particularly helpful); games like chess, checkers and dominoes; paintbrushes and watercolors; pens and paper; and classroom wall coverings featuring maps, the alphabet or English or Spanish vocabulary. For younger children, items like building blocks, play dough and stuffed animals are also welcomed as they can be incorporated into educational activities.

You can make a material donation in two ways:

1. Shipping: Please pack your items in a box and send it to our main office in Washington, DC. The address:

UBELONG (attention: holiday drive)
1630 R Street NW, Suite #5
Washington, DC 20009
USA

2. In person: If you are in DC you can drop your materials off at our office. Before doing so, please contact us to set up a meeting time.

For both financial and material donations, please note the following:
1. Please make your donation by January 10, 2011.

2. Donations are not tax deductible as the UBELONG Fund is currently not set up as a 501(c)3 organization in Washington, DC.

If you have any questions or need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are so grateful for your support. From all of us at UBELONG, happy holidays and best wishes to you and your loved ones in 2011!
