Why did you decide to become a UBELONG Volunteer?
I decided to become a UBELONG volunteer because of a few reasons. Firstly, after working in NY for more than 2 years, I realized that I hadn’t taken the time to give back to the community and would like to give back to the community. Second, opportunity to volunteer in another country does not come around often and UBELONG provides the perfect platform for that.

What were your major challenges?
A major challenge was to get out of my comfort zone and patiently serve the elderly as some of them have difficulties not only maneuvering around the nursing home, but also feeding themselves. My one-week volunteering experience has been rather humbling.

What is your favorite memory?
I would say there are a few. Most of them are when I was able to entertain the elderly and make them smile, either through serving or through entertaining.

In a sentence or less, best packing advice?
Make sure to pack some medicines, especially for high altitude. Even though it didn’t bother me that much, it certainly did to other volunteers. Also, a lot of sun block.
